The Eye An Amaizing Organ

Introduction and Functions of Eyes

The eye is the most important and amazing organ found in the human body, simply because of its incredibly high precision and performance.
It contains muscles which are in constant movement to perform simultaneous functions important for vision, these functions includes;
  • Visual field exploration, this enable us to see around the external world.
  • Diaphragm for opening and closing the pupil in response to light.
  • Accommodation so that to bring images into sharp focus.
Despite of such incredible functionality the eye constantly sends information to the brain inform of electrical impulses using Optic Nerve which acts like a connecting wire from the eyes to the brain.

 Amazing facts;

It’s estimated that during awake millions of nerve cells in the retina (behind the eye) send information to the brain at rate of 100 megabytes per second.

 ……They Needs Very Little.

To perform such complex tasks the eyes needs a small amount of air (oxygen) plus other few nutritional substances found in common foods staffs, example;

Vitamin A:

Isn’t vital for the formation of rhodopsin (light-sensitive pigment) which is found in cells of the retina (behind the eye). It’s also important in maintaining conjunctiva (anterior membrane of the eye) moist and in good condition.

…….Carrot Enriches Your Body With Vitamin A.

Carrot is reach in beta-carotene enough for the body to produce Vitamin A. The lack of this form of vitamins can cause loss of night vision, dryness of eyes and irrigation of the eyes which all together interfere the normal functionality of the human eyes.

 Carotenoids:

There are plant-based nutritional components that acts as antioxidants that a very important in preventing various inflammatory processes that might affects the eyes e.g. Macular degeneration of the retina.

……. Green Vegetables Contains Hundreds of Carotenoids in them.

A regular consumption of vegetables reduces the risk of inflammatory tendencies in the eyes (macular degeneration of the retina) which is the important cause of irreversible vision loss for people aged more than 65 years.

 Vitamin C and E

These forms of vitamins have antioxidants properties found almost exclusively in fruits, vegetables, nuts and whole grains. Their lack have shown to have an increased risk of developing cataract (opacification of eye lens) and vision loss. Plant-based foods contains important ingredients that are necessary for the eyes to maintain its normal functionality status.

Conclusion

Each and every one of us could enjoy better health and higher quality of life if we select our foods from wide variety of plant foods

A personal testimony from one of the famous Northern American writer and educator Ellen G White (1827-1915) says “Grains, fruits, nuts and vegetables constitute the diet chosen for us by our Creator (God)…. They impact a strength, a power of endurance, and a vigor of intellect, that are not afforded by a more complex and stimulating diet”

The Shorter Your Sleep, The Shorter Your Life Span.

The Shorter You Sleep The Shorter Your Life Span

Have you ever tried to ask yourself this question, “Do I have good health?” The answer mighty be No, mind you that you are not alone. It’s clear that poor health conditions that are happening now around the world are due to the fact that we have taken our body health statuses for granted and we have placed it as the last priority.

Having good health  it’s that all we need, therefore for us to enjoy this life it’s worth enough to have good health, a life that is subjected to poor health conditions  is not the plan of God for the human race, you may ask yourself how can I have that good health without diseases? And this should be the question for each and everyone of us as we live on this world. I would to share with you few advices about how sleeping can enhance your health.

“I doubt you are surprised by this fact, but you may be surprised by the consequences. Routinely sleeping less than six or seven hours a night demolishes your immune system, more than doubling your risk of cancer. Insufficient sleep is a key lifestyle factor determining whether or not you will develop Alzheimer’s disease. Inadequate sleep—even moderate reductions for just one week—disrupts blood sugar levels so profoundly that you would be classified as pre-diabetic. Short sleeping increases the likelihood of your coronary arteries becoming blocked and brittle, setting you on a path toward cardiovascular disease, stroke, and congestive heart failure ``''sleep disruption further contributes to all major psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, and suicidality.”

“Perhaps you have also noticed a desire to eat more when you’re tired? This is no coincidence. Too little sleep swells concentrations of a hormone that makes you feel hungry while suppressing a companion hormone that otherwise signals food satisfaction. Despite being full, you still want to eat more. It’s a proven recipe for weight gain in sleep-deficient adults and children alike. Worse, should you attempt to diet but don’t get enough sleep while doing so, it is futile, since most of the weight you lose will come from lean body mass, not fat.

Add the above health consequences up, and a proven link becomes easier to accept: “the shorter your sleep, the shorter your life span.” Now why then should you shorten your lifespan just simply by limiting the amount of sleep you take per day? God created you to live a life full of blessings to yourself and to other people as well, avoid destroying your good health for such a simple avoidable mistake.

You have 24 hours in each day, taking an average of 6-8 hours for you to sleep at night it's not a big deal, the rest of 16-18 hours in a day to do all your works they are very enough for us if we just use then effectively, the bad thing is that we don’t effectively us the day time ours therefore we even consume our night time hours for being active with a lot of tasks to do instead of resting by sleeping.

With all the consequences that happen when you don't get enough  sleep, then I see the need for every individual to take a deep sleep during the night time for the purpose of having good health. Try this simple experiment, take a an average of 6-8 hour night sleep for one week and access your daily tasks in each particular day, the other week try to get a sleep of 1 or 2 hours in each day and also access your daily tasks then figure out between the two weeks how did you accomplished your daily task.

Steam Inhalation Therapy and SARS-CoV-2

The Current Situation Of the Global Pandemic.

The world is still in terror, world leaders from both developed and developing countries are in huge debate concerning the global health issues of the pandemic caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which cause COVID-19 disease. Despite all the efforts that have been put forth on developing strong vaccines against this monster still no effective changes that have been seen towards fighting the global pandemic. Till to date only a total of three vaccine have been declared by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) these includes;

  1. Pfizer-BioNTech,
  2. Moderna,
  3. Johnson & Johnson/Janssen.

but also there still more vaccines to come which are now in last phase of clinical trials of proving their safety and efficacy these includes;

  1. AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine,
  2. Novavax COVID-19 vaccine.

Ever since December 2019 when COVID-19 began many people have come up with various regimen as the prescribed cause of treatment for SARS-CoV-2 this includes the use of Steam therapy (Nyungu in Swahili).

With the use of  this mode of treatment for the disease still many people are loosing their lives, the question comes then, is the Steam Therapy treatment method effective for treatments of the complications caused by SARS-CoV-2 ? Probably the answer is No.

Many African countries are highly using this mode of treatment methods thinking that it can be effective for the treatment of corona virus disease of 2019, many scientific research and sturdies have proved that steam therapy proves failure in treatment of severe respiratory tract infections.

For instance a sturdy done at around 2012 at various emergency hospital  departments in Netherlands for people with respiratory infection showed no benefit effects of using steam inhalation therapy but rather it lead to increased hospital admission with burn injuries resulting from steam inhalation therapy, most victims were children, and needed skin grafting more often than adults. Therefore as steam inhalation therapy has no proven benefits and the number and extent of complications of this therapy in terms of burn injuries are significant, especially in children, steam inhalation therapy should be considered a dangerous procedure not to be recommend anymore.

Way forward recommendations

I now call upon each and every person to take possible health precaution like effectively putting on face masks when in crowd places such as in public places and in public transportation where social distancing can’t be archived, also hand sanitation by frequently washing hands before touching any part of your face, applying hand sanitizer sin places where hand washing process aren’t practiced. Observing social distancing as much you can this too can help to prevent the spread of the virus.

May God Bless You As You Strive To Take All Possible Precaution Towards Fighting This Global Pandemic.

Cancer Burden Overview 2020

Cancer Community Perspective

Cancer is a generic term for a large group of diseases that can affect any part of the body. A defining feature is rapid creation of abnormal calls that grow beyond their usual boundaries and can then spread to other organs and tissues, a process referred to as metastasis. Metastasis are common causes of death from cancer. Abnormal cell generally arise because of alterations in the DNA of cells that result in growth and spread of related cells. Such changes are multi factorial in origin, including environmental agents ( carcinogens or infection), alterations in developmental pathway, changes errors in DNA replication, impairments in the immune system and other factors.

People of all ages, sex, race, community and social statuses are prone to have cancer.

Cancer is now a major public health challenge, being the second leading cause of death globally  especially in low and middle income countries around the world.

In 2018, a total estimations of 18 million new cases of cancer and 10 million death occurred globally. The predicted global burden will double to about 29-37 million new cancer cases  by 2040, with its greatest increase in low and middle income countries including Tanzania.

Cancer death accounts for 5.1% of all in-hospital death in Tanzania during 2006-2015, death was notably higher among individuals aged between 15-59 years.

Countries with lower incomes have significantly worse population outcomes, and, within countries people at the lowest economic levels have poorer cancer outcomes and are more likely to suffer financial hardship.

Social And Economic Inequality In Cancer.

Social and economic inequalities such as different in income, education, housing, employment, diet, culture, gender, ethnic group and environment can affect cancer burden, and socially and economically disadvantaged population have poorer outcomes, as they are more likely to have preventable cancer that are diagnosed at a later stage, with a poorer prognosis, and they are more likely to have inadequate access to treatment.

In order to reduce inequality, cancer control should include targeted activities to decrease the explore to such population to avoid risk factors.

Social And  Economic Consequences Of Cancer

Nearly everyone has been affected by a cancer diagnosis in themselves, their family or their friends. Cancer thus directly affects not only patients but also families, friends and communities. People with cancer experience high rates of financial hardship and in many cases, catastrophe, which is increasing over time as cancer care become more expensive. Severe financial distress after a cancer diagnosis may increase the likelihood of death, even after apparently effective treatment.

Psychological and financial distress extend to families and caretakers, particularly when there is limited or no access to care or when it is prohibitively expensive. Family members and caretakers often provide unpaid care that can result in loss of employment, financial hardship and poor physical and mental health. The children of parent with cancer have worse health outcome

The burden of cancer affects a country’s economy because of absence from work, lost productivity and premature mortality.

 Cancer Prevention

One third to one half of cancer cases could be prevented by reducing exposure to known risk factors. Examples of actionable interventions are tobacco control and HPV vaccination

Most countries do not fully implement cancer prevention policies and Programmes, resulting in millions of avoidable cancer cases.

The most effective approach to primary prevention of cancer involves the whole of government, with a combination of legislation, regulation and facial policies and activities to change community and individual behavior. Public health messages and promotion should include evidence for specific risk factors.

  • Avoid Smoking

Do not smoke or use any form of tobacco, make your home smoke-free, and support smoke-free campaign and policies in your workplaces ……….

  • Maintain Healthy Body Weight and Exercises

Be physically active in everyday life, and limit the time you spend sitting, this will contribute to maintaining your body weight.

  •   Eat a Healthy Diet

Eat a lot of whole grains, pulses, vegetables and fruits.

Limit consumption of high-calorie food (high in sugar or fats), and avoid sugary drinks.

Avoid processed meat, and limit red meat and foods with a high salt content.

Limit your intake of alcohol of any type,or don’t drink alcohol at all.

In Work Places

Avoid too much sunlight exposure, especially to children, use sun protection.

Protect yourself against cancer-causing substances by following health and safety instructions.

Determine whether you are exposed to radiation from high radon levels in your home, reduce high radon levels.

Vaccinations And Screening.

To reduce child’s risk of cancer, ensure that children are vaccinated against ( HAPATITIS B for newborns and HUMAN PAPILLOMA VIRUS HPV)

Take part in organized cancer screening Programmes for BOWEL CANCER (men and women) and CERVICAL CANCER (for women) as well as PROSTATE CANCER (for men).

Did you know…………!!!!???

For Women

Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Limit the use of hormonal replacement therapy, which increases the risk for many types of cancers.

What You Need To Know About Sugar Alternatives

Welcome to this blog, today am gonna share with you What You Need To Know About Sugar Alternatives.
Introduction
In today’s world you may think like everyone is suffering from certain health conditions , in one way or the other I may say it’s true that everyone might be having certain diseases. The burden of Non Communicable Diseases which is rising day and night makes the condition even worse. This is pretty sure, because approximately 41 million people die each year due to Non Communicable Diseases, which is equivalent to 71% of all deaths globally. And among these people, 15 million people are between the age of 30 and 69 years; over 85% of these premature deaths occur in low and middle-income countries especially the sub-Saharan countries in Africa including Tanzania.

Behind the scene etiology of all Non Communicable Diseases is seen to be Modifiable Behaviors that changes day by day. These behaviors are such as
  • Tobacco use,
  • Physical inactivity,
  • Unhealthy diet and,
  • Harmful use of alcohol, all these increase the risk of Non Communicable Diseases.
Unhealthy Diet is a major problem today many people are not aware of what kind of staff they have to feed their bodies, in so doing the body becomes so much contained with unhealthy food hence the normal body physiology is being destroyed day after day.

Such unhealthy diet that I want to focus on it today is the use of Sugar It’s pretty sure that we all need sugar in our bodies for it to be processed to give the body energy, but it’s not all kinds of sugar that we find in the street shops/supermarkets needed for that task. Because most of them contain additional carbohydrates which is converted to sugar when in the body.

Now………........ What You Need To Know About Sugar Alternatives ………………..

When you visit your local supermarket or street shops , it can be easy to get overwhelmed by all kinds of artificial sweeteners flooding the shelves. But I find it so beneficial to understand what we are consuming and the effects on our body, Bellow are useful tips from the American Diabetes Association to help you navigate healthier decisions when shopping for or preparing sweets.
  • Read the labels. Many foods that are advertised as “sugar-free” or “no sugar added” are not carbohydrate-free or even lower in carbs. When you consume items that have carbohydrates, your body breaks those carbs into glucose (sugar). That’s why it’s so important to read nutrition labels and understand how many carbs and calories you are consuming, in addition to looking at sugar content.
  • Consume sugar in its natural form. Whole fruit is a perfect example of food that contains sugar in its natural form. These types of foods tend to be nutrient-dense, high in fiber and low in glycemic load—meaning it won’t spike your blood glucose. This can be especially important for people with diabetes. While refined sugar can cause our blood glucose and insulin levels to spike, increase triglycerides and with that increase a person’s risk for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses. Be aware that even too much natural sugar consumption can lead to tooth decay, weight gain and increased triglycerides.

  • Understand the purpose of artificial sweeteners. Examples of artificial sweeteners include aspartame, saccharin and sucralose. Artificial sweeteners don’t contribute to tooth decay and cavities, and they contain no calories and can aid in weight loss. Because artificial sweeteners don’t contain carbs, they don’t raise your blood sugar. This can allow individuals with diabetes to enjoy alternatives to their favorite sweets in moderation.
  • Moderation is key. Artificial sweeteners and subssubstitutestitutes may aid in weight management but should be used sparingly. Remember that processed foods containing sugar substitutes typically do not offer the same benefits and nutritional value as whole foods.
Lookingng to cut back on sugar?
Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Carbonated water is a tasty swap for soda.
  • Make a morning smoothie with fresh or frozen fruit instead of opting for sugary cereal or pre-packaged pastries.
  • Replace dessert with a DIY popsicle or fresh fruit. Add your own toppings (like fresh fruit or a low-sugar granola) to yogurt instead of pre-flavored options.

Comment Bellow if you have any question(s) concerning the today's topic, welcome back. Have A Nice Moment.

FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF GOOD HEALTH PART 1

There’s an old saying that “YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT” but today I wanna add up on it that “WE ARE WHAT WE DO… WE ARE WHAT WE THINK…” Take the risk of going through the article and see how you are what you eat, do and think.

Having good health is one of the greatest responsibilities we have, taking care of your health status matters a lot, many of us struggle to take care of their phones by buying a brand new screen protector, nice phone cases and even more to maintain their phone internet bundles all day long. Wonderful enough they forget to have a time to access their body health.

A vast number of health problems presented in our clinical setting ranging from mild to severe conditions are simply due to the fact that we fail to control some simple Health principles that are within our own abilities.

Consider conditions like Diabetes, Obesity, Depression, Cancers have now increased in recent years perhaps it’s because we have neglected simple health principles. Some of us have been struggling to lose weight, maintaining perfect body shapes and perhaps to gain sexy body shapes.
Why then to trouble yourself... follow these simple health principles to maintain your perfect good health....😩😩😩😩

1. Maintain Good Health Nutrition.

Did you know that eating food with less or low nutrition value can over time lower the effectiveness of your body’s defense system and compromise your physical and mental health….? You may wonder why this happens so..but the fact is, deciding which kind of food and how to cook it is more important, many processed foods have less nutrients but also some foods shouldn’t stay on a stove for a long period of time because the nutrients in it perish.

2. Get Adequate Amount Of SUNLIGHT.

The sun provides the basis for all life on Earth. It is the source of energy for all life forms including plants, animals and humans. The body manufactures natural vitamin D after being exposed to sunlight.
Vitamin D is critical for the body because it helps the body absorb calcium and maintain the right amount of calcium and phosphorus in the blood. Without it bones became thin, brittle or even misshapen.

3. Drink Ample Amount Of WATER.

Our body is made up of about 75% water, but also ¾ of our planet’s surface is covered with waters with a vast amount of life forms. “we can’t drink water without thinking of life itself” water carries elements of life and has the ability to transmit and maintain them. Every single cell is made up of water including the cells in our own body.
Water is so critical for life and functioning of cells, tissueand organs in the body. Water helps in processing body functions such as movement, nerve function, blood circulation, digestion, eliminating waste products etc..

4. Get an Adequate Amount Of SLEEP.

A lot of studies are suggesting that sleep plays a crucial role in a person's physical as well as mental health and functioning. Lack of sleep can compromise immune system effectiveness, which can lead to various forms of health problems.
Studies have shown that lack of sleep can make your body become resistant to insulin, a hormone which helps carry glucose from blood to cells. Other problems resulting from lack of sleep include lack of mental clarity, memory problems, moody disposition and higher stress level.

Life Without Hypertension During The Pandemic Of COVID19

LIFE WITHOUT HYPERTENSION DURING THE PANDEMIC OF COVID19

Overview Of Hypertension
Hypertension is the leading modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease, and is associated with high morbidity and mortality, with significant health care costs for individuals and society.
Hypertension has now become a public health problem and yet people are aware of it and even fewer access effective treatment.
With the ongoing demographic transition in many part of Sub-Saharan Africa, people are changing from rural, manual work to urban lifestyle, hence the risk of hypertension increases.

Possible Risk Factors For Hypertension
Major risk factors for hypertension among people in the society includes
Age,
Race,
Education,
Smoking,
Metabolic syndromes, ( obesity, dyslipidemia and diabetes).
Manifestation of end-organ damage at the time of diagnosis,
Family history of cardiovascular diseases,

It’s a Surprise that,
Hypertension is usually asymptomatic until overt end-organ damage is imminent or has already occurred. Therefore the diagnosis of hypertension depends on measurement of blood pressure and not on symptoms reported by the person.

Effects of Hypertension
Sustained arterial hypertension damages blood vessels in kidney, heart and brain and leads to an increased incidence of renal failure, coronary disease, heart failure, stroke, and dementia.

However, fewer than half of the patients with hypertension receiving pharmacological treatment have adequate blood pressure control. The main reasons for this are therapeutic inertia, lack of adherence to treatment, and unhealthy lifestyle (i.e., excess dietary fat and salt, sedentary lifestyle, and overweight). Cardiovascular risk and mortality are greater in hypertensive patients who are receiving treatment but have suboptimal control of blood pressure.

IMPORTANT WAYS TO LIVE A LIFE WITHOUT HYPERTENSION

1. Maintain Your Body Physically  Active; Being physically active have shown to reduce the risk of developing hypertension which can cause cardiovascular diseases. One of the famous Author Ellen G. White once said  “Moderate exercise everyday will impact strength to the muscles, which without exercise became flabby and enfeebled. By active exercise in the open air every day,the liver, kidney, and lungs also will be strengthened to perform their work.” Child Guidance 339.3. Therefore performing outdoors regular exercise will help you to maintain proper blood circulation within the arteries and veins of your body.

2. Feed your body with a diet less of fatty and salt foods; Researchers shows that people taking higher fatty and salt diets are associated with hypertension and cardiovascular problems, salt has a tendency of increasing blood osmolarity in so doing water retention which increases arterial blood pressure. On the other side fatty food increases the level of cholesterol in the body with then can form clot and increases resistance in arteries and veins in the body. But I stead take a lot of green vegetables with a lot of natural fruit and whole grains, these are of much more important for your health.

3. Get fresh air; Fresh air is the precious gift from God, we were meant to get pure air from the atmosphere perhaps during this period of lock down many of us are staying within the house all day long, take time to open up your windows and door so that sun rays and fresh pure air from outside may reach the house. “ Your lungs, deprived of air, will be like a hungry person deprived of food.Indeed, we can live longer without food than without air, which is the food that God has provided for the lungs.” Child Guidance 339.4

4. Have a close relationship with God; Our precious Heavenly Father and wants us to live in a perfect health life, without any complication of disease, God always reminds us to tell all our needs and wants to him. He never tired to lifting us from life burden of diseases, he loves us, he care for us, even more than that he has millions of ways to make  COVID19 ends, what he needs from your is your trust to him alone.

The choice of maintaining your proper healthy lifestyle is of much concern during this period of pandemic. May I take this opportunity to remind you that following a proper health lifestyle  will be of much benefit for you and your loved ones. Wash your hands. Don’t touch your eyes, nose and mouth. Avoid going to clouded places. Put on your face mask. Together we can fight COVID19.
